FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT

Introduction:

  1. Preparing Timothy (2nd. Tim. 3:12-17)

    1. All who desire to live godly, suffer (vs. 12)

    2. Evil men will grow worse and worse. (vs. 13)

    3. Continue in the things learned from childhood (vs. 15)

      1. The Holy Scriptures (vs. 15)

        1. Able to make one wise

        2. For salvation

      2. All Scripture inspired of God (God-breathed) (vs. 16)

      3. Scriptures equip for every good work (vs. 17)

  2. The charge to Timothy (2nd Tim. 4:1-2)

    1. “Preach the word!” (vs. 2)

    2. “Be instant in season and out of season” (vs. 2)

    3. “Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching” (vs.3)

    4. Time will come (vs.3)

      1. Not endure sound doctrine

      2. According to their own desires

        1. Have itching ears

        2. Heap up teachers for themselves

      3. Turn away from the truth to fables (vs.4)

    5. Be watchful in all things (vs.5)

  3. Fight the good fight

    1. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12)

    2. Put on the whole armor of God (Eph. 6:10-17)

      1. That we may be able to stand in the evil day (vs. 13)

      2. “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit> the word of God.” (vs. 17)

      3. Pray (vs. 18)

Conclusion:

  • Crown of righteousness (2nd Tim. 4:7-8)

  • Crown of life (James 1:12)
